This ambitious fantasy film from Occidental college won the Gold Metal in the Alternative Category at the 40th annual Student Academy Awards in 2013. I had worked regularly with the director, Raffy Cortina, throughout our school years and when he approached me to do visual effects for his thesis we worked out a stylized approach that infused one of my ongoing loves – traditional animation – with fantasy set pieces. The result is something unique.
